What’s The Best Gaming Laptop Under $1200?

If you’re looking for the best gaming laptop under $1200, then I’ve got some good news for you: You actually have a lot of great choices! The truth is that there are a lot of great gaming laptops at this price point, but not all of them are equal. Some come with powerful processors but weak GPUs while others come with super powerful graphics cards but weak processors.

To make things even more confusing, most manufacturers tend to use different names for their models or just number them in.

1. Asus ROG Strix G

81xzxfh-rzl-_ac_sl1500_-3595347

Brand ASUS
Series ASUS Rog Strix
Screen Size 15.6 Inches
Color Grey
Hard Disk Size 1 TB
CPU Model 8032
Ram Memory Installed Size 16 GB
Operating System Unknown
Card Description Dedicated
Graphics Coprocessor NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650

If you’re looking for an affordable gaming laptop, the ROG Strix G is a solid option. It comes with a 9th Gen Intel Core i7 processor, an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 graphics card and up to 1TB of SSD storage. The model we reviewed came with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD storage, which is plenty for most modern games as long as you don’t try to run them at maximum settings.

While not all gaming laptops are expensive, there are still plenty that cost well over $1,000. Fortunately, Asus has been working hard over the past couple years to make lower-cost gaming laptops that are still packed with a ton of performance, and it’s nice to see companies like Asus catering to both ends of the market with products like this one.

Here are the specs of the laptop used in this review

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-9750H 2.6 GHz 6-Core Processor
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 4 GB GDDR5
  • Motherboard: Intel HM370
  • Storage: 1TB PCIe Nvme SSD
  • Memory: 16GB DDR4 2666 MHz

CPU: Intel Core i7-9750H 2.6 GHz 6-Core Processor

This laptop is the world’s smallest gaming laptop. It has the most powerful graphics you can get in ultra-thin laptops and is still only 0.7 inches thick. It has a powerful Intel Core i7 processor, and it can be configured with up to 32GB of RAM and 1TB of SSD storage, making it one of the best gaming laptops in its class.”

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 4 GB GDDR5

With NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 graphics, you will be able to play your favorite games smoothly and with better image quality. This laptop can handle most AAA titles on medium settings at 1080p resolution. It’s not as powerful as other gaming laptops in this price range, but it gets the job done for less.

Motherboard: Intel HM370

The ASUS ROG Strix G has an Intel HM370 motherboard, which is compatible with the 9th Generation Intel Core i7-9750H processor, a six-core CPU that boasts max speeds of 4.5GHz. If you’re unfamiliar with motherboards, it’s the collection of chips and sockets that serve as the main circuit board for your computer.

They hold together all of the components that make up a desktop or laptop PC, and are what define compatibility and performance between hardware parts like processors and graphics cards. The motherboard also contains things like your computer’s memory, storage system, and fans.

The Intel HM370 motherboard comes with two M.2 slots for PCIe NVMe SSDs. This is good news for gamers who want to store their games on SSDs for quicker loading times (your hard drive is only as fast as its slowest component). Unfortunately some laptops have non-replaceable RAM modules mounted directly to the motherboard (soldered), which makes upgrading RAM impossible without replacing the whole thing—but luckily this one isn’t configured like that

Efficient Intel Pentium Silver N5030 Processor 1.1 GHz (4M Cache, up to 3.1 GHz, 4 cores); 15.6” FHD (1920×1080) Display

Storage: 1TB PCIe Nvme SSD

A solid state drive (or SSD) is a NAND flash memory that uses the PCI Express interface to connect to a computer. So, the Asus ROG Strix G (2019) Gaming Laptop comes with a solid state drive. Solid state drives are faster and less power-hungry than traditional hard drives, and because they don’t have moving parts, they’re also more reliable.

Memory: 16GB DDR4 2666 MHz

DDR means Double Data Rate and refers to a type of SDRAM (Synchronous Dynamic Random Access Memory). There are different types of SDRAM, but the most common are DDR3 and DDR4. The biggest difference between them—other than the number—is the speed at which they operate. The higher the frequency bandwidth, the faster your computer is able to retrieve data for your CPU to use.

Memory with a speed of 2666 MHz has a multiplier of 1333MHz (2666/2). As its name suggests, it operates at double this rate—transferring data on both the rising and falling edges of each cycle; hence its name. Faster memory allows your processor to access data more quickly so that you can process information efficiently while gaming.

The greater the frequency bandwidths available, the quicker your computer can transfer data between RAM and CPU caches. This results in snappier performance when playing games and using multiple programs on your computer at once.

To play some games today, you need 8GB minimum RAM; 16GB is recommended if you want smoother gameplay in high-resolution with sophisticated effects like ray tracing turned on. So how much memory do you need? Well, it depends on how much multitasking you will be doing while gaming as well as what resolution settings you have selected for gaming graphics.

Display 15.6” IPS Type FHD (1920 x 1080) 144Hz Refresh Rate

The display on this gaming laptop is a 15.6” IPS Type FHD (1920 x 1080) 144Hz Refresh Rate. Most modern games will run at the 1920×1080 resolution, and most gamers would agree that the top-end refresh rate of 144Hz is optimal for gaming. The screen has good pixel density, which translates into sharper images, and displays better colors than other screens with less pixel density.

Dimensions 14.17” x 10.62” x 1.02” / 360 x 270 x 25.8 mm

The dimensions of the Asus ROG Strix G (2019) Gaming Laptop are 14.17” x 10.62” x 1.02” / 360 x 270 x 25.8 mm.

Weight 5.51 lbs / 2.5 kg

Weight 5.51 lbs / 2.5 kg

You can expect a laptop weighing 2.5 kilograms to feel lightweight and portable, while not sacrificing the essential gaming power we all crave so much.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

Aesthetically pleasing

Great performance

Good display

Cons:

High price

Drawbacks

The 2019 model has some drawbacks. The screen is a bit dim, even at its highest settings. With an entry-level graphics card it’s not going to run the newest games on maximum graphics, but unless you’re an avid gamer with a huge budget, that might not be a dealbreaker for you. More problematic is its weight: if you’re planning on carrying this thing around all day, you might want to consider something lighter (though I’d still consider it much more portable than other laptops in this price range).

It runs hot as well—though I suspect that most people buying gaming laptops aren’t using them for everyday things like writing emails and surfing the web anyway. Finally, there’s the bloatware: I realize that Windows machines usually come with some unnecessary programs added on by manufacturers when they ship out of the factory. But I’ve never seen anything quite like the amount of extraneous programs present on this machine—from OfficeSuite Pro to not one but two antivirus programs (one pre-installed and another offered via a pop-up).

It took me about 3 hours to clean up all of these needless programs after unboxing it (and many were left behind even after following Asus’ own instructions). There are also quite a few useless utilities included in this package—most likely so Asus can charge you fees if you ever need technical support and require their help removing them (factory restores don’t always fix those issues either).

Finally, there’s battery life: if you’re looking for long-term use away from outlets and power sources without needing to carry around extra batteries or adapters then this probably isn’t your best bet—unless portability isn’t really what you’re going for in which case forget everything else I just wrote about this laptop being heavy!

Its Intel Core i7-7700HQ Kaby Lake quad-core processor is optimized for performance, ensuring that your games run smoothly. The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card features 6GB of GDDR5 dedicated video memory and is VR ready so that you can play all your favorite virtual reality games with no problems.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • Your laptop’s graphics are amazing.
  • It can help you with virtual reality stuff.
  • You can carry it around with ease and do your gaming on the go!
  • It looks good when you open it up and put it down on that table. The metal shell is real nice.
  • You have a lot of control over the fan, which means you never have to worry about overheating again.

Cons:

  • The screen is pretty meh.

Drawbacks

The Predator is a powerful laptop and it shows. It’s over an inch thick and weighs 7.5 pounds, making it one of the larger gaming laptops in its class. The Helios 300 has the same dimensions as some 17-inch gaming notebooks, but you could get a larger display if you don’t mind sacrificing some power to do so. While the Helios 300 isn’t too big to carry, it’s not very portable given how heavy it is.

The thermal performance of this laptop is a mixed bag, though. Out of the box, we found that we had to adjust fan speed settings in order to get better thermals than what we were getting in default mode, but even after doing so we still found that the laptop can run into some hot spots when gaming for long periods of time—particularly on the left side panel by where your palm will rest when mousing around with your right hand on the touchpad or numpad.

For example, during several runs through Shadow of Mordor at Ultra settings and 1920×1080 resolution (with Shadow Boost turned on), our unit averaged about 78 degrees Celsius peaking as high as 92 degrees Celsius at times—temps which are pretty warm for this type of CPU/GPU combination!

GeForce GTX 10-Series GPUs give you up to 3X the performance of previous-generation GPUs. They’re built with ultra-fast FinFET, the latest high-bandwidth memory technologies, and support for DirectX 12 features to deliver the fastest, smoothest gaming notebook experiences.

32 GB DDR4-2666 SDRAM

DDR4-2666 is the latest version of RAM, which stands for double data rate fourth generation memory. RAM optimizes your computer by reducing the time it takes to access and store information. This process is called latency, which means how much time it takes for a thread of information to be transferred from one location to another; this definition also applies to network data transfers, and most electronic devices use it today.

As more and more processing power and storage capacity are added onto a device—like our laptops, gaming computers, external hard drives and USB flash drives—the amount of data being processed increases significantly. The faster the latency can be reduced during these operations, the less likely that you’ll experience an interruption in service or slow performance during a specific task.

RAM has become increasingly important since you need speedier access to your personal files on computers as well as the ability to quickly copy files between them while they’re powered off. These tasks take less time when using DDR4-2666 RAM because it’s faster than both DDR3 SDRAM and DDR3L SDRAM by a large margin.

512 GB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD

512 GB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD: PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD storage drives are the latest, greatest thing, offering super-fast application loading and file management; with plenty of space to store your ever-growing gaming library.

  • The native resolution of this screen is 1920 pixels by 1080 pixels, and the refresh rate is 144Hz.
  • The pixel pitch of your display measures 0.18 x 0.18 millimeters (millimeters measure in the metric system as 1/1,000th of a meter).
  • This screen has an aspect ratio of 16:9.
  • The technology used in your laptop’s display is LED backlighting, which provides a thinner and more energy efficient screen than previous technologies used in laptop displays (e.g., cold cathode fluorescent lamp or CCFL backlighting).
  • There are 300 nits brightness on your CNC aluminum chassis with integrated rear ventilation tunnels to ensure your machine stays cool during those marathon gaming sessions.

Pros and Cons

Good Stuff

  • You get a good amount of storage and when set up the laptop will run very well.
  • When gaming it runs all the programs without any issues.
  • You can play graphic games at top quality settings. (I play Fortnite)

Bad Stuff

  • Not much to complain about but it did come with a few scratches on some parts of the computer, but they were easily fixed by buffing them out and applying oil to it.

Drawbacks

In addition to its good qualities, the laptop has a few drawbacks worth noting.

  • Its keyboard isn’t as good as you’d expect from a $2,000 laptop. It’s not uncomfortable, but it’s definitely not great either.
  • The screen could be better: it’s full HD, with a respectable 1920×1080 resolution, but the screen itself could be sharper and clearer.
  • The trackpad is also nothing special—again, it’s perfectly fine for everyday use, but compared to the trackpads on other laptops in this price range (and some that are much less expensive), this one falls short.

4. Dell G5 15

Brand Dell
Series Vulcan 15
Screen Size 15.6 Inches
Color Black
Hard Disk Size 256 GB
CPU Model Core i7 Family
Ram Memory Installed Size 16 GB
Operating System Windows 10 Home
Card Description Dedicated
Graphics Coprocessor NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti

Dell G5 15 Gaming Laptop’s power and versatility come from a 9th Generation Intel Core i7-9750H processor, an impressive 16GB of memory, and a discrete NVIDIA GTX 1650 GPU. All of these specs combine to make the Dell G5 15 Gaming Laptop an incredibly powerful laptop that can handle any task or program you throw at it.

The Dell G5 15 Gaming Laptop is also a great entertainment laptop, thanks to its sharp Full HD display. You’ll get plenty of detail in videos, whether you’re watching your favorite action movie or streaming your favorite Twitch streamer. And if you’re working with more graphically intense programs (like photo editing software), the dedicated graphics card will help smooth things out without slowing down the rest of the system.

Processor

Packing a 9th generation Intel Core i7-9750H processor, 16 GB RAM and NVIDIA GTX 1650 graphics with full Microsoft Windows 10 Home operating system, the Dell G5 15 Gaming Laptop is the perfect choice for high-performance in a sleek design. With six cores and a clock speed of up to 4.5 GHz and 12 MB cache, this Dell gaming laptop can handle almost any program you throw at it with ease.

For storage, there are 256GB SSD and 1TB SATA options available. The 15.6″ FHD LCD screen features an anti-glare coating and 1920 x 1080 resolution to deliver lifelike color with crisp detail for all your applications. And with four-fan cooling system, you’ll never need to worry about your space getting too hot or keeping it cool while using the Dell G5 15 Gaming Laptop on the go!

Memory

It’s true that 16GB is the new standard when it comes to laptops. In fact, 8GB just won’t cut it if you plan on doing some serious work or gaming in your laptop. That said, having 16GB of RAM can slow down your machine because there’s too much memory trying to access the same data at once.

DDR4 memory is newer and faster than the older DDR3 memory that was used in previous laptops, but not all laptops support it – making this a good reason to check before you buy a laptop with DDR4 installed. 2666MHz is actually pretty decent for storage speeds for most people and will make sure that everything runs smoothly without any lag or delays after loading up different apps.

Hard drive size

The two most important factors to consider when selecting a laptop are how much storage space you need, and how fast the hard drive (the spinning disk in your computer) can read data on it. At the minimum, you should get a 256GB solid-state drive (SSD) with at least an 8GB SSD cache.

A 1TB hard drive may be an overkill for most people, but if you’re a gamer or heavy video editor who will fill it with games, photos, music and movies that all need to be quickly accessed on your laptop’s operating system and applications, then this is the best option for you.

The next aspect of determining storage quantity is choosing between an SSD and a hard drive (hard disk). Compared to standard hard drives, SSDs store data in flash memory chips instead of moving the data across spinning magnetic platters. The benefit of this is that the amount of time needed to read or write data from or to an SSD is significantly faster than with traditional drives.

Additionally, because all segments of memory are accessed simultaneously by your processor rather than sequentially like traditional disks do, all files open instantly upon being requested. This means both gaming and media editing can run smoothly on 1TB internal storage that has been upgraded to 256GB SSD speed.

Operating system: Windows 10 Home, 64-bit

A Windows laptop with the latest OS is important to security. This laptop, which comes with the most up-to-date version of Windows 10 64-bit, is well equipped for your needs. It has a wide variety of features that can easily be tailored to any style or taste. With its durability and sleek design, it’s perfect for taking on the road or using at work.

PC type: Laptop

While desktops are typically better for gaming, laptops have a lot of things going for them too. They’re portable, they’re less expensive than desktops, they’re a good choice for students and businesspeople (because you can take it to Starbucks), and they’re suitable for people who travel frequently.

  • They can be easy or tough depending on what’s inside
  • When choosing your laptop make sure the hardware is compatible with your software needs

Optical drive: None

As a gamer, you could be spending thousands of dollars on game consoles – and doubtless have hundreds of games. In fact, a big part of the fun is getting your hands on all those titles. But there’s something about playing them that can feel a little impersonal for many people – why not have your own personal games collection?

You could go for streaming services like the likes of Netflix and Amazon Prime, but if you want to play the games properly then it’s likely that you will require an optical drive (DVD/CD) or Blu-ray disc player to do so. And this is where one of these Dell G5 15 Gaming Laptops with its DVD/CD burner comes into play.

There are two versions available at this time: one with Windows 10 and one with Windows 7. We prefer the latter because it has better compatibility and… well, let’s face it – we like Windows 7 (and higher) because they run smoother than those on the newer operating systems.

Media drive: SD/MicroMedia card reader

The SD/MicroMedia card reader is a handy piece of hardware that allows you to access the full potential of any memory cards you have laying around. One of the most widely used types of memory cards is MicroMedia cards, and SD cards are very popular in digital cameras.

What exactly can I do with an SD/MicroMedia card reader?

The Dell G5 15 Gaming Laptop features an SD/MicroMedia card reader, which offers several benefits:

  • It’s Compact : Since it’s so small and inconspicuous, it’ll fit into every bag. You can bring it along to a party or on vacation without worrying about adding bulk or weight to your luggage. It also won’t take up much room on a desk or nightstand at home.
  • Easy Expansion : An SD/MicroMedia card reader can be used to transfer files between your laptop and the storage device, allowing you to easily add more space when needed by simply plugging in another flash drive or micro media storage device. -No Drivers Needed : An SD/MicroMedia card reader will work with Windows out of the box, so no extra software installation is necessary. This makes transferring files between different devices easy and convenient.

Audio: Waves MaxxAudio Pro

MaxxAudio Pro is the software that comes with Dell G5 15 gaming laptop. This software is used to normalize and equalize sound. It also has a preset for gaming. Using MaxxAudio Pro will make your audio more pleasurable to listen to because it improves the quality of the sound. It can be found under Audio in your control panel, or you can click on the Windows logo button in the bottom left of your screen and search for ‘audio’.

Video: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 4GB GDDR5

The 15.6″ Dell G5 15 Gaming Laptop, with its new 9th gen Intel Core i7-9750H processor, NVIDIA GTX 1650 and 256GB SSD (1TB SATA) is powerful enough to handle any game you throw at it. This sleek black aluminum laptop has a matte finish and the backlit keyboard glows red when it’s powered on.

The 6-core processor has plenty of power to load your games quickly, so you can jump right into the action with no delays. The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 GPU is supercharged by 4GB of GDDR5 video memory, giving you a truly immersive gaming experience. And because this laptop’s screen has Full HD resolution, you’ll enjoy crisp and clear gameplay for an eye-popping visual feast.

This model comes with an HDMI output so that you can connect to your TV or monitor for big-screen entertainment at home or on the go. There are also plenty of ports for connecting accessories like an extra display, mouse or printer—there are two USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type A ports and one USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type C port—plus there’s a media card reader that supports SDXC card formats in case you want to view photos directly from your camera’s memory card before transferring them to another device or computer.*

When it comes to performance, this machine delivers everything you need for top-notch multimedia enjoyment along with some serious gaming capability—at a price that won’t break the bank.

Ports: 1 USB 3.1 Type-C Gen 2 (with Power Delivery, DisplayPort), 2 USB 3.1 Gen 1, 1 HDMI 2.0b, 1 RJ-45 Gigabit Ethernet 10/100/1000, 1 headphone/microphone combo jack

Looking to buy a laptop? It’s safe to say that you’ve got a bunch of choices, but most of them will be…well, terrible. While there is certainly no shortage of low-quality PCs on the market, for those who want to keep their gaming and work experiences running smoothly at maximum quality settings, there are some incredibly high-quality choices out there that happen to cost less than $1,000.

The 15.6″ Dell G5 Gaming Laptop is one such choice. Featuring an Intel 9th Gen Core i7 processor and NVIDIA GTX 1650 card (capable of rendering graphics up to three times faster than the previous generation), this machine is an excellent value for those who want a fairly portable, high-performance laptop without paying the additional premium often associated with such devices.

While super-thin gaming laptops may be all the rage these days, they usually occupy a very specific niche in terms of price and portability—usually costing more than $1,000 and weighing between 2–3 pounds—and therefore simply don’t make sense as primary computers for many people. For borrowers on tight budgets or travelers who may have to move frequently or ship their laptops across international borders frequently, a standard 15″ gaming laptop like this one will fit right in your life while still performing admirably well in any game you throw at it.

Battery: 56WHr battery; Up to 8 hours battery life

Dell offers an impressive eight hours of battery life on this 15-inch laptop. If you’re using it for work, that’s pretty much the entire work day before you need to find a power outlet.

This is probably the best part of Dell’s offering. It’s nice to be able to unplug without having to worry about finding a place to plug in at the coffee shop—and if you’re taking your computer somewhere with a power source, you can use those extra three hours of battery life (the other three hours were used up during the actual work day) to game, binge-watch Netflix series, or whatever else it is that people do when they don’t have more important tasks for their computers.

The only problem with this particular laptop is that its battery life isn’t as good if you plan on doing a lot of gaming on your computer. Make sure you know what kind of entertainment will take priority when choosing what kind of laptop to buy.

Camera1MP camera with microphone and optional I/O port cover and dual array digital microphones

The Dell G5 15 Gaming Laptop is equipped with a 720p HD camera that can capture video or still images. Not only does this camera provide great quality, its dual array mic also provides good sound quality for your YouTube channel. However, you will notice that the picture is darker than what would be ideal if you are recording a video of yourself.

This webcam also has an optional I/O port cover that can be attached so the webcam isn’t visible if you don’t want it to be (such as when using FaceTime or Skype).

One of the most appealing features on this webcam is that there’s no IR camera, which means you won’t get caught in webcams with built-in motion sensors and end up making funny faces while your roommate uses it as a security device to keep tabs on you during library time. That being said, however, without an IR camera, it’s not so useful for typing in passwords at night since it requires proper lighting in order to recognize your fingers accurately enough to type out passwords.

WirelessIntel Wi-Fi 6 2×2 (Gig+) and Bluetooth 5.0 combo

The Dell G5 15 Gaming Laptop blends premium power and performance with a sleek design to deliver a high-performance laptop at an affordable price. With flexible connectivity options, fast processors and Adobe® Photoshop® Lightroom Classic Creative Cloud™ software included, it offers the ultimate productivity for gaming and video editing.

Talking points of this section:

  • We have friends over when we play video games to socialize too…they don’t sit on the couch like zombies anymore! We love gaming in the living room but sometimes we still need to be productive. So, knowing we had to get our work done, I pulled up my laptop to do some writing. My husband plays Destiny 2 on his Xbox One X (which he loves!) while I write on my laptop in my chair. Now, no one sits on their butt staring into space anymore!

Drawbacks

The Dell G5 15 Gaming laptop has many drawbacks. For example, the computer is made out of plastic as opposed to metal. The battery life is only 4 hours which means you can’t take the computer anywhere without having to bring a charger with you. The computer also doesn’t have a powerful enough graphics card for intense gaming so certain games won’t run on it without the use of an external graphics card.

The computer also overheat when running graphic software like photoshop or after effects. In addition, the Dell G5 15 doesn’t have any thunderbolt 3 ports and only has 2 USB 3 ports meaning that if you want to plug in any other devices, you either need to buy an adapter or get a new computer all together. Finally, while I appreciate that they used a high resolution screen which displays crisp images, it only allows me to see 2560×1440 at 60 Hz while most people are nowadays looking for screens that allow them to see 4k resolution at 60 Hz or more.

15.6 inches Full HD (1920 x 1080) widescreen LED-backlit IPS display

The decision to go with an IPS panel instead of a TN (Twisted Nematic) panel was an easy one for us. We do value IPS and all it can offer, like more accurate colors and more vivid and realistic picture quality. This is all thanks to the technology, which bypasses the backlight entirely in such a way that there is no light loss through the screen. The result is brighter, clearer images with accurate colors.

PCI-e SSDs are great for major gaming applications, multiple servers, daily backups, and more

New laptops come with different types of storage, ranging from traditional hard drives to the newer solid state drives (SSD). Solid state drives are typically more expensive than hard drives, but they offer several benefits over their older counterparts. While a typical hard drive may hold anywhere from 500GB to 3TB of your data, these enticing storage capacities comes at the expense of speed.

In contrast, a PCI-e SSD provides up to two terabytes of space for your files and applications—plenty for the average user—and provides significantly faster speeds for daily computing tasks, including opening and copying files between programs. This makes them ideal for gaming and other applications that require access to large amounts of data quickly.

In addition to providing ample space and fast data access, why would you want to use one? Check out four awesome ways PCIe SSDs can improve your day-to-day routine:

  • Large gaming applications/packages
  • Multiple servers
  • Daily backups

Get up to 15x faster performance than a traditional hard drive

The Asus ROG Strix G (2019) Gaming Laptop sports a storage system that’s better than what you get from traditional hard drives. It has solid-state drive technology, so the read and write speeds are much better. You’ll notice faster boot times and load times for games, which is really useful for those who like to play their favorite games on the go.

In addition, it’s lighter and more durable, with no moving parts. It’s also faster and more energy efficient compared to traditional hard drives. Plus, it comes with a longer lifespan of up to 10 years or 1 million hours of usage.

Pros and Cons

Asus ROG Strix G (2019) Gaming Laptop is a powerful gaming laptop, which offers impressive performance and it is easy to carry.

(PROS):

  • It has an aggressive design with plenty of red highlights on the body.
  • The Intel Core i7-9750H processor at 2.6 GHz with 16GB DDR4 RAM takes care of the processing power that you need for games or multitasking.
  • You can run all the high-end games on this laptop, as the graphic card provided by NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 is good enough for playing latest games in high settings (on 1080p resolution). Computing power here is double when compared to previous series from Asus like Asus ROG Zephyrus M. You will also get triple cooling system along with dedicated fans to keep your device cool when running multiple applications or while playing games for long hours.
  • You can store all your important data easily because there are four storage options available: 256GB SSD + 1TB HDD, 512GB SSD + 1TB HDD, 256GB SSD + 2TB HDD and 512GB SSD + 2TB HDD. It also has memory card reader and USB 3 ports too. So, transferring files between pen drives and other devices like phone is easy here. The battery life is excellent too: it provides up to 8 hours of battery backup while watching movies online or while gaming etc., which makes this notebook perfect for traveling too!
  • (CONS):
  • It’s a little bit expensive than the other laptops in its category (around $1800).

Drawbacks

The Asus ROG Strix G (2019) Gaming Laptop is a nice gaming laptop, but it isn’t without its drawbacks.

If you’re looking for a portable gaming laptop with a high-powered graphics card, then the ROG Strix G (2019) is an excellent choice. It gives you more power than the average laptop while still being portable and affordable. However, don’t expect to get a battery life that lasts through long flights or multiple movie marathons; this laptop will need to be plugged in for most of the day.

Weighing only about 5 pounds, this laptop is easy to carry around from place to place. While it has a slim profile and an attractive look, the weight might make some users think twice about carrying it over long distances.

Asus makes great displays on laptops; however, even though this model has an excellent display, I found myself wishing that it was just a little brighter at times. If you are concerned with brightness level while using your computer outdoors in sunny weather, you may want to think about another display option.

The webcam on this model doesn’t seem to be of very good quality; often times when I used the camera during video calls with friends I saw pixilation and other visual distortions caused by poor image quality. Finally because of its small size I found myself hitting my hands against the trackpad whenever I tried making quick swipes across it; something that could have been avoided if Asus had made it larger so my palms wouldn’t accidentally hit it.

6. MSI GL66 Gaming Laptop

Brand MSI
Series Pulse GL66 11UGK-001
Screen Size 15.6 Inches
Color Core Black
Hard Disk Size 512 GB
CPU Model Core i7
Ram Memory Installed Size 16 GB
Operating System Windows 10 Home
Card Description Dedicated
Graphics Coprocessor NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070

The MSI Pulse GL66 gaming laptop is an affordable but well-equipped choice for gamers on a budget. It comes with a 15.6″ 1080p 144Hz display, Intel Core i7-11800H 6-core processor, GeForce RTX 3070 graphics card, and 16GB RAM (with upgrade to 32GB max). The main appeal of this laptop is its entry into the VR gaming world thanks to its high refresh rate (144Hz) and 120Hz touchpad, both of which can deliver great VR experiences.

Since this is a budget gaming laptop, it doesn’t have the most powerful hardware in town: screen resolution is limited to 1080p and memory can only be upgraded to 32GB max (not 64 or 128). Don’t expect to play top-tier games like Watch Dogs 2 or Far Cry 5 at full resolution on ultra settings—you’ll need more powerful hardware for that. But if you want to play less demanding games like League of Legends, Fortnite, GTA V, etc., then this works just as well as more expensive laptops!

Also great with the MSI Pulse GL66 are battery life and portability. With around 7 hours of battery life under light usage (checking email/social media/writing long articles), the MSI Pulse proves that it can go places without being tethered to an outlet. And weighing in at only 5 pounds even with a 15″ screen size, bringing it on road trips or vacations is totally worth it so long as you’re not playing resource intensive games all day long (not recommended!).

RTX 3070 LAPTOP GPU

In a world of graphics cards, there are two reigning superpowers: the GeForce GTX and the Radeon RX. Both families of GPUs have their advantages and disadvantages, but for many gamers—especially those who need high-end graphics while traveling—the Radeon cards’ usefulness is often hampered by their bulkiness and power consumption.

For those times when you want (or need) to game on-the-go, there are few solutions that can take you from couch potato to mobile warrior with as much ease as an NVIDIA GeForce RTX™ 3070 LAPTOP GPU. This little powerhouse gives you incredible performance in games that support its unique capabilities, plus it has a number of bonus features that make it ideal for more than just PC gaming:

Powered by the new Turing architecture, this dedicated LAPTOP GPU will run your favorite games at blazing speeds, giving even powerful desktop systems a run for their money. Its small size (about half the size of its big brother) means that it won’t take up much space in your backpack or carry-on luggage. And with its built-in 4K HDR display port and HDMI 2.0 ports on laptops like MSI’s GL series notebooks, it makes an excellent monitor substitute when hooked up to an external display!

15.6″ 144Hz FHD DISPLAY

The MSI Pulse GL66 Gaming Laptop’s 15.6-inch display isn’t the brightest we’ve seen, but it is clear and sharp with a strong range of colors. The display is matte, not glossy, so it won’t be as harsh in sunlight. It’s also not overly bright in dark rooms—but that won’t be an issue if you’re gaming or watching videos indoors anyway.

The 144Hz refresh rate makes for a smooth and responsive experience. And at this price point, we found little to fault about the quality of the display. It has deep blacks and vibrant colors that look great for gaming and video editing alike. If you’re looking to save money on your next laptop without skimping on quality, then this model will not disappoint you.

16GB RAM + 512GB SSD STORAGE: Get all the speed you need in a sleek, portable package

MSI’s Pulse GL66 is an elegant package, ready to handle nearly anything you can throw at it. When the latest technology is important, the Pulse GL66 shines in its combination of performance, features and portability. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 graphics processor provides blazing-fast frame rates.

In addition to a 15.6″ 144Hz FHD 1080p display that’s perfect for gaming on the go, this laptop also includes 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD—more than enough power to keep up with even the heaviest multitasking. A solid backing system keeps everything running smooth with a durable steel frame and solid-state drive (SSD). The MSI MAG247 17.3″ Gaming Laptop Backpack & Case adds just enough protection while keeping your gear safe and secure.

4-SIDED THIN BEZEL DESIGN

The MSI Pulse GL66 Gaming Laptop is an excellent choice if you need a lightweight gaming laptop that’s packing high-end specifications. It features an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 graphics card with 8GB RAM and a whopping storage configuration of up to 512GB SSD. Despite the heavy load, its battery performance is surprisingly good. We’ve got the full size QHD 144Hz FHD panel for games and movies (via HDMI) and can transcode 1080p content in real time without any trouble.

We found the keyboard rubbery but comfortable to type on. Its plastic hinges are sturdy enough and don’t creak or flex much, even when opened all the way up to 180 degrees. Overall, this laptop is great for light gaming and other productivity-related tasks like photo editing or video streaming on YouTube or Netflix.

very quick, very pretty MSI Pulse GL66 Gaming Laptop

The MSI Pulse GL66 Gaming Laptop is one of the finest 15.6″ laptops you can get for under $1300, especially if you’re into quickness and prettiness. Its 144Hz 1080p display helps with visual performance, and its RTX 3070 graphics card combined with an i7-11800H processor can handle modern games with ease. It’s also a great computer to have if you like to edit videos or stream your gameplay on Twitch.

This laptop is marketed towards gamers and comes with some gaming elements that help enhance your experience: dedicated keys for macros, a programmable button on the side of the keyboard, RGB-backlit keys (with numerous customizable presets), and more. Even outside of gaming, these features are really nice to have so you can customize how you use this PC to fit your needs best.

Talking points of this section:

  • lightweight compared to other gaming laptops; weighs around 5lbs
  • full HD display is really sharp and clear; you can see all the little details in your games

Drawbacks

We were excited to get our hands on the MSI Pulse GL66 Gaming Laptop, which was supposed to be a sleek, lean gaming machine with a shiny new 15.6″ 1080p 60Hz display and powerful specs under the hood. While the specs of this laptop did sound great in theory, they didn’t quite live up to their hype. We found that this MSI laptop had many drawbacks when it came to performance and functionality, which made us question whether it was worth our money.

First off, let’s talk about the hardware of this laptop: The processor and graphics card inside turned out to be not very impressive. While both did their jobs decently enough for casual gaming and watching videos online (even though we noticed some noticeable frame rate drops in games), there wasn’t anything special about either of them that would have allowed them to be top-tier competitors in today’s market.

Neither was able to handle intense games more than decently well—even with high settings—the frame rate would often drop after extended periods of gameplay (such as Middle Earth: Shadow of War). As far as graphics cards go, both were relatively low-end solutions from Nvidia—the GTX 1060 on the left and 1070 on the right—and simply couldn’t handle heavy games at full HD resolutions without dropping frames or running very hot at times; so even though they weren’t bad units when they worked (we haven’t had any problems with them yet), they were also severely underpowered for most modern titles.

Now let’s talk about how it looks and feels as an overall package: The quality of this laptop is another problem area that needs addressing; while its casing is nice enough, especially compared with other laptops its size or lower price range (which are notoriously flimsy), it doesn’t feel like a quality piece overall; it feels almost cheap in hand when compared with similarly priced models such as Dell’s XPS 13 or HP’s Pavilion x2 12-c0075nr .

If you’re looking for a gaming laptop that leans closer to “laptop” than it does “gaming rig” and won’t break the bank in the process, you’ll want to give this one a look. It’s a durable machine with an aluminum finish and red trim accents that can be found online and in stores for under $1000. The screen is large enough for gaming yet still portable enough to slip into your backpack or drag on the airport conveyor belt without worry of tearing it.

The speakers are clear enough for personal use and the rest of the soundscape is good quality for an entry level computer system. There’s no bloatware preinstalled on this machine so everything runs smoothly from start up to shut down. This series from Lenovo also has a touchpad that’s mouse clickable where most laptops have them set as just touch pads with no clicking function at all.

You can easily connect your USB devices wirelessly or through its 3 USB ports (all 3 of which are USB 3.0 ports). Overall its performance was impressive given its price range and display size/quality ratio—it will run even more complex games without lagging/freezing as long as you don’t set it to ultra quality mode when playing them (set it to high instead).

Full-HD display with anti-glare technology

The Legion Y7000 is the perfect laptop for anyone who wants a reliable, premium gaming rig. One of the most important aspects of any gaming laptop is its screen, and the display on this one is crisp, clean and colorful. The anti-glare protection helps keep your eyes from straining when playing games in brightly lit rooms. An Intel Core i7-8750H processor clocked at 2.2 GHz powers everything from high-end graphics to internet browsing with ease. A GeForce GTX 1060 has 6GB of GDDR5 VRAM that can take care of those higher quality video games you want to play on a larger screen or through an HDMI connection on another monitor or TV.

There are 16 GBs of DDR4 RAM available for multitasking between multiple windows or applications, as well as 1 TBs worth of HDD space and 128 GBs worth SSD storage that make booting up quickly and loading games fast and easy respectively. Windows 10 Home will be familiar to any Windows users out there making it super easy to get started with this system.

8th Generation Intel Core i7-8750H Processor 2.2 GHz (up to 4.1GHz) 6 Cores

Lenovo’s Legion Y7000 is a powerful gaming laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-8750H processor. It features Nvidia GTX 1060 graphics, 16GB of RAM and a 1TB hard drive for storing game files and other media. There’s also a 128GB solid state drive for caching frequently used information, so the system can boot up faster.

With an IPS display that stretches to 15.6 inches, this machine excels at both gaming and multitasking. Thanks to its fast SSD storage, it boots up in just 6 seconds, which is impressive considering it comes with 16GB of RAM, too. As long as you have the right games to play on this laptop, you’ll be able to stay entertained for hours on end without any interruptions.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 Graphics 6GB GDDR5 graphics memory

We were eager to try out the new NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060, the latest addition to NVIDIA’s gaming graphics line. In this article, we’ll show you how to check what version of NVIDIA’s flagship GPU is installed on your computer, and how to change it if you want more than 6GB of video RAM.

16GB 2666MHz DDR4, 512 GB PCIe SSD, 1TB 5400 rpm HDD

A gaming laptop is an expensive piece of machinery, so it’s worth doing your research and shopping around before settling on a model. The Lenovo Legion Y7000 has a number of features that make it ideal for gaming and also for work or study. The laptop comes equipped with 16GB of RAM and 512 GB of NAND flash storage: massive amounts by consumer laptop standards. While the base specs are already impressive, the real power lies in the Nvidia GTX 1060 graphics card, which is backed by 6GB dedicated GDDR5 VRAM.

The Legion Y7000’s biggest drawback is its weight: at 7 pounds, it’s not going to be portable enough to carry around campus or on a business trip. For gamers who also want something they can bring to class every day, you’ll want to look into more lightweight options like the MSI GS65 Stealth Thin 8RF. For those without such stringent mobility requirements, however, this hefty powerhouse will serve you well through years of high-end gameplay.

Backlit keyboard, red color scheme

Lenovo’s Legion Y7000 takes the gamer aesthetic to a new level by having a backlit keyboard with a red color scheme. A stark contrast to otherworldly backlit keyboards that cast an emerald glow onto your fingers, this one has a more fiery look and feel. Even though the keys are gray, they’re illuminated with a warm red light that makes them easier to see in the dark than many LED-enabled laptops I’ve seen. It’s this kind of attention to detail (along with the perforated pattern on the bottom of the laptop) that makes it clear from the get go that Lenovo is marketing this toward gamers instead of just people who appreciate gaming aesthetics.

It’s also pretty flexible for its size, and even offers high-end specs for less than $1,000. There isn’t much I’d change about it, aside from wishing it had better speakers with richer audio quality. However, since you can always hook up external speakers or headphones if you want superior sound quality while playing games or watching movies, I wouldn’t let this be too much of a deterrent to picking up this product. The keyboard alone is worth taking into consideration while you make your decision!

A gaming laptop that is very powerful and functional

Equipped with an Intel Core i7-8750H 2.2 GHz processor, a full HD 15.6″ display, and NVidia GTX 1060 graphics card with 6 GB of VRAM, the Legion Y7000 is ready to power through just about anything you can throw at it (as long as you’re not talking about literal throwing). With 16 GB of DDR4 RAM, the system has ample space to run a bunch of applications simultaneously without slowing down your experience.

What really makes this laptop stand out from the others on this list is its sheer storage capacity—1 TB for hard drives and 128 for solid state ones—which means that even if you’re constantly running applications and games off of your computer’s drive, it’ll take a while before you need to clear them out or make more room for new ones. Its portability is also enhanced by its light weight: at 5.3 pounds, it’s only slightly heavier than some of its competitors.

The price tag might be a little steep compared to some other laptops on the market—but if we were going by laptop standards alone, then this product would win our hearts in just about every category. The fact that it still manages to achieve excellence despite being decently priced makes this laptop that much better.

Pros and Cons

The Lenovo Legion Y7000 is a 15.6-inch gaming laptop with all the trimmings: it has an Intel Core i7-8750H processor, an Nvidia GTX 1060 graphics card, 16 GB of RAM and a 1 TB HDD. The price hovers around $1,000, but will vary depending on the retailer.

The battery life, at around 6 hours of continuous use per charge, is decent for a gaming laptop, but not quite enough to let you play all day without being worried about recharging. However, this battery life is actually way above average for gaming laptops in general – most models have battery life hovering below 3 hours; we’re talking about longer than twice that here.

As far as portability goes: while weighing in at almost 5 pounds and having dimensions that aren’t exactly “thin and light” (it’s 1” thick and weighs 5 pounds), it’s still pretty portable given that it has such good battery life and can pack this much power under the hood. There are lighter gaming laptops out there (for example the Acer Predator Helios 300 weighs just 4 lbs) but they won’t be able to run games as well or last as long on a single charge.

  • It’s important to note that this is not an ultrabook or even what people would consider a “lightweight” computer—at well over 4 pounds with dimensions 0.9″ x 15″ x 10″, this laptop won’t slip easily into your backpack or bag unless you don’t mind bulking it up considerably.

Drawbacks

Lenovo’s Legion Y7000 may not be the best 15.6″ gaming laptop on the market, but in spite of its shortcomings, it still delivers a solid experience that’s worth considering if you’re a casual gamer.

The most noteworthy feature of this laptop is its Nvidia GTX 1060 graphics card, which is an excellent mid-range GPU that performs well even in 2018. It isn’t quite as powerful as some of the higher-end options out there, but it will still allow you to play modern AAA titles at decent settings for several years to come. Its other specs are respectable for the price: 16 GB RAM, 1 TB HDD + 128 GB SSD hybrid storage drive and an 8th gen Intel Core i7 processor are all standard fare for gaming laptops at the $1000 level.

In my testing I was satisfied with its performance—games ran smoothly and looked great on this machine, though I did notice some fans getting noisy when running graphically intensive titles like The Witcher 3 or Rise of the Tomb Raider for long periods of time (its fans also get noticeably louder than what I experienced on similar GTX 1060 laptops).

Also disappointing is how exceptionally poor its battery life was; under heavy load it lasted only around an hour and a half before needing to be plugged in again (even gaming laptops with power-hungry GTX 1070 cards last longer!). Overall though it has enough juice to handle most daily tasks without issue—although don’t expect to take advantage of those maxed out settings while unplugged.

If you’re looking for the best gaming laptop on a budget, you should consider the Razer Blade Stealth 13 Ultrabook. Weighing in at a surprisingly light 2.87 lbs and measuring less than an inch thick, this sleek laptop boasts powerful hardware: an 8th-generation Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, and 512GB of solid state storage (with room to add an additional drive).

With a battery life up to 10 hours long, this baby is perfect for hitting the road—you can even play games while you’re away from AC power. But it’s not just well-suited for travel: the Razer Blade Stealth 13 is also built with productivity in mind. It features four different USB ports (three of which are Thunderbolt 3), as well as an HDMI port and SD card slot so that you can easily get work done wherever you go. Its crisp 4K touch screen adds a sleek high-resolution display for watching movies or streaming your favorite shows when there’s no WiFi available.

The optional NVIDIA GeForce MX150 graphics card brings more power to your gaming experience as well, making this one of the most versatile Ultrabooks out there today—at under $1,000 (and often much less), it’s hard to find another laptop with comparable performance that doesn’t cost twice as much. The Razer Blade Stealth 13 proves itself time and again as one of the best laptops on the market for both practicality and performance; here’s why it’s held in such high regard among experts who love to game!

Intel Core i7-8565U 4-Core Processor 1.8GHz; NVIDIA GeForce MX150 with 2GB dedicated graphics memory

If you’re looking for a compact notebook that can handle demanding tasks, the Razer Blade Stealth (2018) mobile PC delivers. Featuring a powerful Intel 8th Gen Core i7-8565U processor and discrete NVIDIA GeForce graphics, this laptop is perfect for multitasking and runs multiple programs without skipping a beat.

The ultra-portable design features a 13.3″ 4K touchscreen display powered by Corning Gorilla Glass NBT™ to keep your screen safe from scratches while also supporting touch gestures like pinch-to-zoom and swiping to switch between apps. And with the new Razer Chroma backlight keyboard, the keys are fully customizable to light up in any color you want for fast typing in low light or dark environments.

The included 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD makes loading large games or applications a breeze, so you can get to gaming faster than ever before! In addition, its slim profile allows it to easily slip into your bag so you can game on the go or head straight into work with no hassle at all (and of course bearing its gorgeous CNC aluminum chassis). It’s everything you love about gaming—now even more accessible than ever.

13.3″ 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) Touchscreen Display

The 13.3” display on the Razer Blade Stealth is one of the best 4K displays on the market, with great color and contrast to match its sharp resolution. Sporting a matte finish, it also has plenty of viewing angles, so you can sit at any angle in a room without affecting your viewing. The 16:9 aspect ratio makes it great for gaming and watching movies, since full-screen video content fills up more of the screen than with a lower-resolution display—the perfect way to enjoy your favorite flick or entire season all at once.

The touchscreen is very responsive, though its glass has an obvious amount of drag (though far less than cheaper laptops). The laptop comes with Windows 10 Pro pre-installed for you to get started right away. While we recommend using it as a laptop first and foremost, you can use it as a tablet when folded up into tent mode or tablet mode if you want to get some drawing or writing done like that class project you promised to finish that one time but never did.

16GB DDR4 Memory & 512GB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD

The Razer Blade Stealth 13 is a slim, Intel Core i7-8565U 4-Core, NVIDIA GeForce MX150, 13.3″ 4K Touch with Windows 10 Home operating system laptop that comes with 16 GB of DDR4 RAM and 512 GB internal storage. The processor has an 8th Gen architecture with 8 threads on 2.20 GHz and can reach up to 4.60 GHz in Turbo Boost mode and there is an integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 GPU in it as well which is perfect for medium level gaming but not enough to play the latest high end games or run multiple virtual machines at once.

The 512 GB internal storage can be expanded up to 1 TB through external storage options which include a micro SD card slot along with USB 3 (universal serial bus) ports of both type C and A for connecting external devices such as mouse, keyboard, printer etc. lightning port for charging laptops from other devices such as power banks or surge protectors and a HDMI port for connecting to external displays. The battery in this device can last 7 hours on normal usage of internet browsing/microsoft office applications/watching videos on youtube etc.

This laptop is both a powerful business laptop and a gaming laptop

Razer is known in the gaming community for its sleek, beautifully designed peripherals. The brand has a history of making some of the best gaming laptops on the market. So when people started asking us what laptop they should buy for school or work, we came to Razer’s new Blade Stealth 13 Ultrabook Laptop. It has a 2-in-1 design that lets you do both work and play without having to switch devices, making it perfect for professionals trying to accomplish tasks while also being able to check Steam every ten minutes.

Pros and Cons

The Razer Blade Stealth 13 Ultrabook is the perfect choice for anyone who needs a stylish and portable laptop that can go wherever they do. With its aluminum body and compact design, it will fit right in to your everyday routine, whether you’re at the office or hanging out on the couch.

The Razer Blade Stealth features a 13″ Full HD (1920×1080) 16:9 aspect ratio display with a very bright 400-nit screen resolution (typical laptops are around 300 nits). The screen also has wide color support at 100% sRGB.

It comes with a powerful 8th generation Intel Core i7-8565U processor which is great for all your daily activities like browsing the web or streaming videos online, but not so good if you’re planning on performing some heavy tasks like gaming.

The battery life could be better; it should last around 6 hours when browsing on wifi, about half of what other ultrabooks usually offer. You’ll definitely need to take advantage of its QuickCharge 3.0 port if you’re planning on taking it somewhere without a power outlet available.

Besides those minor issues, everything else about this laptop is spectacular! It’s lightweight and thin with smooth corners—no more chipping your shoulder while carrying it around—and comes in several colors to match your personality or mood (#gamerforlife).

Drawbacks

When we first bought our Razer Blade Stealth Ultrabook, there were a few drawbacks that didn’t have any weight behind them. At $1,299, it was the most expensive laptop we had ever purchased (and it remains expensive by many standards), but the benefits of having a portable gaming laptop outweighed the few tradeoffs we’d have to endure. We’ve come to regret buying that ultrabook in retrospect, however.

The screen is glossy and blotchy, and also dims slightly from brightness when you plug it into an external monitor; these two issues can be fixed by inserting a piece of paper or some other barrier between your laptop and the ambient light source. But more importantly, there are still plenty of things you can do with your $1,300-plus purchase that you can’t do with our $400 system—things like dedicated graphics cards , SD card slots for expanded storage , better screens or graphics capabilities of any sort .

9. Newest Alienware m15 R5 15.6

Brand Dell
Series M
Screen Size 15.6 Inches
Color Black
Hard Disk Size 1 TB
CPU Model AMD R Series
Ram Memory Installed Size 32 GB
Operating System Windows 11
Card Description GeForce RTX 3070
Graphics Coprocessor NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070

The Alienware m15 R5 packs in a lot of power into a surprisingly small package. With an 8th generation AMD Ryzen 9 processor and 16GB of RAM, this laptop is designed to run the latest games with ease. The GeForce RTX 3070 graphics card allows the laptop to handle AAA titles at high frame rates, while the screen itself has a 1440p resolution and a refresh rate of 180Hz. This means any gamer will be able to take full advantage of every single ultra-high definition pixel that comes with their games.

For those who want to use this laptop for more than just gaming, the 1TB PCIe SSD and HDMI ports allow for easy connectivity between your device and other monitors or televisions. The integrated webcam also allows you to keep in touch from anywhere you are without needing additional software or hardware.

Introducing the New Alienware m15 R5

Alienware’s m15 R5 is a portable gaming laptop with a lot of power. Available with AMD Ryzen processors and Nvidia GeForce RTX GPUs, the Alienware m15 R5 pairs portability and power in an attractive package.

It also looks really sleek, keeping its black-and-silver aesthetic even at 15.6 inches wide. The bezels are thin—thinner than you’ll find on most other models in this screen size—so you can enjoy more screen real estate without sacrificing portability. The m15 R5 boasts a 0.95″ chassis, which is just over half an inch thick and weighs 5 pounds (with a full charge).

The chassis features an aerospace-grade aluminum design that helps keep it cool when gaming for hours at a time or when doing other demanding tasks that require lots of processing power. A Killer DoubleShot Pro Wi-Fi 6 network chipset keeps everything running smoothly even if the user has multiple devices connected to the same network.

Best of all, with up to three internal storage drives (one M2 PCIe SSD, two PCIe NVMe SSDs), you can load this bad boy up with your favorite games without sacrificing speed or performance capabilities. Though we’ve been told it gets pretty loud under heavy use, there’s no denying that this is one streamlined machine.

The m15 R5 is a portable gaming laptop with a lot of power

Dell Alienware m15 R5 is a powerful laptop that does not compromise portability, making it a great choice for gaming on the go. It has an 8th generation AMD A-Series processor and an Nvidia GeForce RTX graphics card. The 120Hz display gives you a smooth viewing experience, and the backlit keyboard allows you to game in dark places. The screen can be configured according to your preferences, giving you more than 100 different options for colors, contrast, brightness and other settings. You can connect to WiFi networks easily because of the 802.11ac wireless LAN module.

This laptop comes with two 2.5-inch drive bays, which means you can easily add or replace hard drives or SSDs as needed by simply removing a few screws from the bottom panel. You can replace both drives or just use one if you prefer keeping some of your data on the second drive partitioned off so that it won’t get deleted when reinstalling Windows 10 Pro (64-bit). This makes it easy to repair or upgrade individual components later when tech trends begin changing again as they often do over time.

Intel Core i7-10750H processor, 8GB of RAM, a 512GB SSD

The Alienware m15 is a 15.6″ gaming laptop that comes with an 8th generation Intel Core i7-10750H processor, an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti GPU, and 8GB of DDR4 RAM. It has a 512GB solid-state drive and runs Windows 11 Home. The 1TB model also sells for $1,649.99 on Dell’s website .

The Alienware m15 features a 15.6″ display with 1920 x 1080 resolution and can be used in the dark if you get the right accessories:

  • A Dell Active Pen offers 1,024 levels of pressure sensitivity and can be used even without battery power to take notes or draw pictures, perfect for class or inking sketches while playing Fortnite on your lunch break.
  • The Alienware Backlit Gaming Keyboard is backlit with white LEDs to illuminate your key presses after the sun goes down, so you can keep gaming well into the night—but it might need some time for the brightness to ramp up fully before you start playing around 9pm (depending on how long it takes to adjust).

Featuring an AMD Ryzen 9 5900HQ processor with eight cores and 12 threading capabilities at 3.8GHz base clock speed, this computer will handle every game you throw at it without hiccups or straining its components too much:

GeForce GTX 1660 Ti

The GeForce GTX 1660 Ti GPU that Nvidia announced at GDC 2019 is here in the Alienware m15 R5 15.6″ 360Hz 1ms FHD Gaming Laptop. It’s got 6GB of high-speed GDDR6 memory, 1536 CUDA cores (with 12 Gbps memory speed), and a 192-bit memory bus. This laptop has all the computing horsepower you could want, without requiring an external power supply.

The GeForce GTX 1660 Ti GPU is a suitable graphics card for playing richly detailed games at Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution or QHD+ (3200 x 1800) resolution with settings maxed out, as well as smoothly running Ultra HD 4K content.

We’ve tested this laptop with today’s top titles and found it runs them on Max settings at FHD resolution and 1440p/QHD+ resolutions with no problem—even if some games might dip below 60 fps when maxed out at 4K. In other words, the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti is fast enough to play games that are graphically demanding without sacrificing detail or polishing off key graphical details like anti-aliasing (AA).

This model comes with 6GB of superfast GDDR6 RAM to help boost gaming performance by loading larger textures and faster access to frequently used assets stored in your system’s video memory. And since the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti uses less power than previous generation GPUs, your laptop can handle heavier loads while also staying cool and quiet under heavy loads thanks to GameCool technology that helps keep your system running smoothly even under full load by maximizing airflow through the laptop’s chassis vents.

It’s available with AMD Ryzen processors and Nvidia GeForce RTX GPUs

This latest Alienware laptop has it all: the latest in AMD and Nvidia graphics technology, available with up to a 10-core AMD Ryzen 9 processor, and a wealth of customizable options. Regardless of which features you choose, you can be sure that an excellent gaming experience awaits—complete with top-notch sound. This m15 notebook makes for a great mid-range portable rig that is ready to handle any AAA game on the market at low to medium settings (depending on configuration). With its sleek design and choice of black or white chassis, it’s sure to look good anywhere you take it.

The Alienware m15 R5 pairs portability and power in an attractive package

From head to toe, the Alienware m15 R5 is designed for comfort. With a screen only 1 mm wider than its bezels, you can easily work—or play—on this laptop with one hand. Smaller than other 15-inch laptops, it’s easy to lug around in bags during your commute or travel without spending a fortune on an airline bag.

With an aluminum chassis and a black-and-white design, the Alienware m15 R5 looks sleek and sophisticated.

We were surprised by how small the m15 R5’s footprint is when we laid it on the table next to our couch. At just 14 inches wide by 10.9 inches high, 12 inches deep and 0.8 inch thick (compared to 15 inches wide by 11 inches high), it’s pretty small for a laptop that has a full HD display and a Ryzen 9 processor under the hood—we’re talking about either AMD or Intel processors here (not both).

The thin bezels also make the laptop even more portable: It scores some of its durability from its solid metal casing as well as its 360-degree hinges which allow you to turn the laptop into an ultrathin tablet when you have somewhere special to take it out of the box like on an airplane with limited baggage allowance (but not if you want to keep it in your carry-on.) And whether you’re traveling light or flying first class, this thing will fit anywhere in your backpack or carry-on bag without tripping over itself like other laptops might—it even fits into my small messenger bag along with my phone and wallet!

Design: Understated is overrated

The new Alienware m15 R5 is a small and beautiful gaming laptop with an understated design. It has been redesigned to be the perfect size for gamers who always want to take their machine with them wherever they go. The m15 is lightweight, making it possible to use it as your main computer throughout the day without getting tired from carrying around a heavy device.

The sleek, gorgeous jet black chassis makes it easy to carry around, but more importantly it does not advertise that you are using a gaming laptop which may attract unwanted attention in public places like cafes or college libraries. If you’re looking for an everyday machine, don’t compromise on aesthetics in order to have a laptop that looks nice and can match your sense of style – get the m15 R5 15.6″ 360Hz 1ms FHD Gaming Laptop!

Ports, Webcam and Speakers

The m15 has a wide variety of ports, including four USB-A ports, one USB-C port with DisplayPort, HDMI 2.0 and an Alienware Graphics Amplifier port. There’s also an Ethernet port for wired internet connections. The Alienware Graphics Amplifier is a companion device that allows you to connect to monitors and TVs via DisplayPort or HDMI.

Display options

The Alienware m15 has a 15.6 inch FHD (1920 x 1080) 60Hz IPS Anti-Glare 300-nits display with a 72% NTSC color gamut for rich, vibrant visuals and bold colors. The Alienware m15 has a 6 inch FHD (1920 x 1080) 240Hz 3ms IPS Anti-Glare 300-nits display with a 72% NTSC color gamut for rich, vibrant visuals and bold colors.

The Alienware m15 has a 15.6 inch 4K UHD (3840×2160) HDR 400-nits 100% AdobeRGB display with Tobii Eye-Tracking Technology and Alienware’s proprietary Color calibration software for precise and accurate color representation, customization and personalization options.

The Alienware m15 has a 6 inch 4K UHD (3840×2160) HDR 400-nits 100% AdobeRGB display with Tobii Eye-Tracking Technology and Alienware’s proprietary Color calibration software for precise and accurate color representation, customization and personalization options.

The Alienware m15 has an anti-smudge Corning Gorilla Glass 15 on the display panel that resists scratches up to 9H (harder than diamond with 1/10th the hardness).

Keyboard and Touchpad

  • The keyboard is full-size and island-style, meaning the keys are arranged in an unbroken line, with minimal space between them.

It’s a chiclet keyboard, which means it has small, circular keys that are very smooth to press down. This style of keyboard is usually found on smaller laptops and tablets. It was nice to see on a larger laptop like this one because it’s easier to type on than most flat keyboards.

The gaming laptop has a backlit keyboard, which is great for dimly lit rooms or darker settings with more subdued lighting. Backlighting can also be used as a notification system: for example if you have a new email message or if you have an incoming phone call (although you won’t hear the ringtone through your computer speakers). The backlight is synchronized with the rhythm of whatever music you’re listening to in your media player at the time (or just not acting as anything at all). You can control how bright the backlight will be through function key F5 or F6.

The keyboard has an island-style layout and numeric keypad built into it, so that when you’re typing numbers or doing accounting work, your hands don’t have to leave home row. Also convenient for quickly entering shipping information when ordering something online!

  • There’s a spill-resistant keyboard on this Alienware m15 R5 model—a definite plus if you’re planning on using it while commuting (especially during coffee runs), or if there’s any chance that your beverage might spill onto the keys while you’re using it stationary in your living room or office.

Even though many laptops now come with touchscreens and stylus pens in addition to physical keyboards and trackpads (and often also mouse support), these days having a physical touchpad is still standard—it makes navigating simpler and speeds up typing as well (the cursor generally moves much faster across a physical touchpad than over virtual ones). This laptop has multi-touch

Performance

The Alienware m15 R5 is a powerful gaming laptop with some incredible specs. Outfitted in an attractive matte-black body with tasteful alien-head symbols, this 15.6” gaming laptop has plenty to offer.

While it’s not the most portable laptop in its class, it packs a lot of power and comes at a very reasonable price for what you’re getting. In other words, it’s worth every penny!

Graphics options

When you’re in the market for a new computer, graphics performance is one area where it can be difficult to determine where your money should be spent. If you want to play games on a mobile laptop, the most important thing is to make sure it has a dedicated graphics card with its own memory (VRAM) or that it can use system memory (RAM) effectively. The two major options for this are Nvidia’s GeForce GTX and AMD’s Radeon.

Laptops with Nvidia GTX-branded cards will have either the GTX 1060—a 6GB VRAM card—or the newer RTX 2070, which has 8GB of VRAM. Some of these laptops may also come equipped with the lower-end RTX 2060 and 2070 Max-Q models; these have less VRAM at 6GB and 4GB respectively.

AMD’s offerings are similar but not as streamlined. You’ll see laptops with either their Radeon RX or their more powerful Vega line of cards, all of which have 4GB of memory as standard. The Radeon RX 570 and 580 are common mid-range cards while their top-of-the line models include the Vega 56 and 64—both boasting 8GB of VRAM like their GeForce counterparts.”

The Alienware m15 R5 has battery life that’s good enough for most uses, and a large battery for long plane flights or hikes. It will last at least 5 hours of casual use (web browsing, etc.), but not much more. The battery is a 67Whr unit which is larger than the average laptop’s—about the same size as you’d find in a standard tablet. In our general productivity benchmark, which involves heavy multitasking with typical office-type software, the m15 R5 lasted just under 6 hours.

That battery life will be fine if you’re just working on an essay in your dorm room. But if you’re planning on taking this laptop out of town or spending the day at a coffee shop with it, we recommend bringing along the power brick and finding an outlet when the charge runs low—you’ll probably get around 4 hours of normal use before it dies.

This powerhouse of a gaming laptop from Dell is worth checking out

Unless you’re in the market for a high-end desktop, you’ll want to consider the Alienware m15 R5 gaming laptop. From its sleek design to its powerful specs, this powerhouse of a gaming laptop from Dell is worth checking out.

[…] The optional screen upgrade brings the resolution of your display up to 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. […].

[…] Video game consoles aren’t on our radar because they can’t be upgraded or customized nearly as easily as PCs and new titles are usually priced higher than their PC counterparts. However, if you’re looking for something that’s portable and can help you play all your favorite games without needing to upgrade it after a few months or years, like an Xbox One S or Nintendo Switch.

Pros and Cons

The new Alienware m15 with a 360Hz screen refresh rate is a 15.6-inch gaming laptop that offers up to 32GB of RAM, up to 1TB NVMe SSD, and the option for a GeForce RTX 3070 GPU with Max-Q design. It also includes an HDMI port and two USB 3.1 ports, along with WiFi 6 and the option for Windows Hello via an infrared camera.

A few modes are available in this model:

  • Comfort – a balanced mode which has the best brightness and color accuracy while still maintaining reasonable power consumption
  • Competitive – a brighter mode which allows you to better see enemies in darker areas of play—this mode may not be ideal if you’re sensitive to blue light (which can cause sleeping issues)
  • Cinema – this mode emulates film lighting by having more yellow tones in your display; it is particularly well-suited for mid-to-dark levels of play

Reviewers have indicated that all three modes are quite enjoyable, though some have observed that the highest brightness levels can sometimes be too much for their eyes. The backlight flickers at 144Hz, but this isn’t distracting enough to ruin your gameplay experience or interrupt your sleep cycle if you use it as your main entertainment source after dark. You may want to purchase eye protection while playing games at night; on higher settings, there is still glare even through curtains and blinds!

Drawbacks

The Alienware m15’s specs are impressive and the price has been on a steady decline, but this laptop is not without its drawbacks.

The biggest issue is the price tag and other limited features for the cost. While there are plenty of great features, like an 8th generation AMD processor, 8GB RAM, an Nvidia GTX 1060 video card, and 1TB hard drive; there’s also no modern bells and whistles. Specifically, there isn’t a Thunderbolt 3 port nor an SD card slot. It also lacks USB 3.1 ports (it only has USB 3).

For what you do get in terms of hardware and performance, though, this computer can easily handle gaming or any task you throw at it while keeping things cool thanks to its thermal management system. That’s definitely something worth paying extra for!

Drawbacks

Even though you may be a fan of MSI’s products, there are some drawbacks to this laptop.

  • The fans can get noisy depending on how much work the computer is doing. This can be an issue if you’re in a quiet environment.
  • The speakers are not very good and don’t provide great sound quality. You may want to look into purchasing external speakers or headphones.
  • If you’re used to having a full-size keyboard, you may find that the keyboard on this laptop is too small for your liking. It also has no backlighting or number pad, which may be frustrating if those things matter to you. Additionally, it may not be as good for typing as other keyboards out there.
  • The trackpad on this laptop is not very responsive and isn’t considered very high quality by many users.
